Climate Resilience and Disaster Management Studies

Our dedicated division for Climate Resilience and Disaster Management Studies is at the forefront of advancing actionable knowledge and pioneering solutions to address the most pressing environmental challenges of our time. We operate with a holistic mandate to strengthen the adaptive capacity of communities and institutions against climate change impacts while proactively mitigating disaster risks. Our core work encompasses high-impact Research and Development (R&D) focused on climate change resilience and mitigation, alongside comprehensive Disaster Management and Risk Reduction Studies. We are deeply committed to capacity building and specialized training, empowering local bodies, government agencies, and communities with the skills and knowledge to prepare for and respond to environmental threats. A significant pillar of our mission is to provide critical support to various agencies by developing robust information systems and comprehensive databases that enable evidence-based planning and decision-making.

In line with this commitment, we place a strong emphasis on achieving Carbon Neutrality at the grassroots level, with focused initiatives for Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). We guide and support these local governance institutions in transitioning towards low-carbon development pathways through a variety of targeted activities, including promoting renewable energy adoption, enhancing energy efficiency, and implementing sustainable waste management practices. Underpinning all our efforts is a profound dedication to Primary Environmental Care. We champion the protection and restoration of natural ecosystems—such as wetlands, forests, and water bodies—which serve as the first line of defense against climate extremes and natural hazards. By integrating scientific research with community-based action and robust policy support, we strive to build a future where development is not only sustainable but also inherently resilient to the challenges of a changing climate.
